Apple recently released the newest operating system for the iphone and itouch. This is a guide to installing, jailbreaking and software unlocking the phone for the use on “unsupported carriers” like T-mobile:
First download and install the newest version of Itunes (8.2)
Next plug in your iPhone, and update your iPhone to 3.0. If you have an unsupported carrier like Tmobile, at this point your phone will lock up and itunes will tell you that your phone can not be activated… that’s ok.
Next download Redsn0w (the o in snow is a zero)
Download the 3.0 .ipsw (firmware) for your respective phone, be sure to get the 3G version if you have a 3G. You can get it here:
If you have an iPhone 2G you will need in addition 2 bootloader files (3.9 and 4.6). You can get it here:
Next launch redsn0w.exe
Your phone will display something like this during the jail breaking process:

Your phone is now jailbroken and the 2G phones will be unlocked for unsupported carriers!
NOTE: ONLY CONTINUE AFTER THIS POINT IF YOU HAVE AN IPHONE 3G AND NEED IT UNLOCKED FOR AN UNSUPPORTED CARRIER!
First turn on WIFI and make sure you have an internet connection.
Next open Cydia (it will probably want to update and resart)
Now search for “ultrasn0w” again with a zero
Install Ultrasn0w
Restart the phone
Congrats, you now have a software unlocked iPhone 3G!
NOTE: My iPhone 3G did not like the upgrade to 3.0, i was having stability issues. If you experience the same, restore the phone in itunes and repeat the process
Here are some shots I took of the newest “UFO” sighting in Phoenix…. They look like flares to me, and they were floating in the direction of the prevailing winds.
Turn out my suspicions were exactly right…. it was flares:
My latest culinary endeavor is “Chicken Cordon Blu”, and was very easy and very tasty.
Ingredients: Pre-time 10 minutes Bake time: 30 minutes
First start by pounding the chicken, you want to get it as thin as possible, 1/4″ thick will do. Dry the chicken and layout flat, lay 2 slices of prosciutto on top. Sprinkle mozzarella on top liberally. Now roll the chicken breast from the thinnest part, so that you had a short stubby roll not a long slender roll. In a bowl mix mayo and parmesan together so you have a paste. Coat chicken with paste and dredge in bowl of bread crumbs. Place chicken on piece of parchment paper seam side down. and bake @ 425 for 30 minutes or untill golden brown.
The game play might not beall that great, but I’m such a Ghotsbusters fan boy that I’ll be picking this up…
It’s slated to release late next year on DS, PC, PS2, PS3, 360 and Wii
It’s that time of year again…. Here are a few helpful sites to get your shopping lists in order.

The power toys were very usefull for XP users, but the virtual drive power toy to mount your .iso files is not supported (yet) in Vista. I found a great alternative in the mean time Slysoft’s “Virtual CloneDrive”

Valve’s “Portal” has opened a whole new…..Portal….. into the world of gaming. What made the original Half-Life such a great game was that you had to use your head, it was not a button masher. The last versions (HL2, Episode 1&2) put their focus into visuals effect, lighting, physics. All of which create a great gaming environment, but the addition of the portal gun just makes things really fun.
So I have been playing around for a month or so with Vista Media Center and using the Xbox360 as an extender….. And here is my review.
